Almost There...
I have been running around crazy. Someone said to me, "I can't believe how much stuff you have to do to open a resteraunt!" Yup, there's alotta shit you have to do. I just want to thank all of the state agencies who take a challenging event, such as starting a business and turns it into an event that will age you 10 years. Thanks for the aging!! I think I found a grey hair...

Louisiana...Again! (Baton Rouge)
On the road, once again. I have a feeling I've got a couple more of these trips ahead of me. Baton Rouge this time. I wasn't really there long enough to give an accurate discription. The staff, nice LSU students. The town shitty on the outside nice in the middle. The people, good and bad, has a lot of refugees from New Orleans. You know how I feel about that. (Please just wait around, don't go and actually try to make your life better, wait till you can't wait any more and keep bitchin' about waiting, and how noone's helping, and wait. The evenings,
understaffed, not prepared for busy nights. Me.. irratated because I have to talk to a ton of irrate guests because we weren't prepared for a busy night and I have to fix problems caused by decisions not made by me. Conclusion = Staff for expected busy nights. I mean Shit, my store isn't even open yet and I still read the email that said "staff heavy for busy days after christmas, be prepared." Hey I have an idea, maybe we should read and follow our emails. Noooo!! They're just there for sending each other pics of our dogs miserably dressed in halloween costumes and then laughing until milk shoots out of our nose. (milk can also be substituted by beer, but that stings.)

Merry Redlights and Happy Traffic Times!
It's Christmas time. Like you didn't know! I love the traffic around Mobile. I'm going to try to get a picture of it, I'm just to scared to take my hands off of the wheel while I'm driving. It'll have to be when I'm stopped which is pretty much the whole time, so I should be able to get a shit-load of them. The urban planners, city engineers really have their heads up their ass. I've only ever seen traffic like this before near large cities, places like D.C. and New York. Their is one major difference, those cities host like 2 to 3 million people. Mobile population= 300,000. Whats wrong this. It's not just rush hour, It's not just because it's christmas time, it doesn't help, but it's all the time. It takes me over thirty minutes to go about 2 miles down the road. By the time I'm at my destination, I'm all white knuckles and I've lost a little hair. I actually once thought traffic in Tallahassee was bad, until I moved here. Oh, how I long for that beautiful stretch of road with just 10 cars on it! Oh and how the hell do some of these people afford gas. Shit, gas casts more then some of the cars they're in. That's kinda like a guy I know, 250,000 thousand dollar car parked in a 150,000 house. And they're the worst drivers out there... I guess they don't have to worry about their car. Well, I've waited long enough and procrastinated, now I'm going to the mall tonight, probably the worst night to go and buy a few more items on the list. Wish me luck...I'm going to need it.

Black Friday = Crazy People
Excuse me sir, when your done standing on my head do you think you could hand me my wig?
Has anyone seen the video where all of these people rush (riot) into walmart the day after thanksgiving? They start knocking each other over, pushing and shoving. Then some fall down and they step on them to get into walmart. One woman falls over and her wig flies across the floor. She's in pain, people are stepping on her and kicking her and the first thing she does is reach out and grab for her wig. "my reebs sho' hurt, I hope noone can see me bald heed" Girl, we just broadcast it around the world!
I can't believe people, how can someone go nuts because the are selling an item 3 dollars cheaper then they do normally any other day! Do you think the twenty dollars Wig Lady would have saved is worth the pain and embarressment she now faces. I betcha she wishes she stayed home and had leftover turkey! Do we blame the -Marts for creating this hysteria, by discounting crappy items hoping it would confuse shoppers into compulse-buying 10 other items marked up. Or do we blame the media who have hyped up this day recently so much they pray and drool for a shopping riot to break out so they can set up camaras and win 5 seconds of higher ratings. I blame them both, the retailers add to the pandemonium by having special hours and savings (thank god I bought this the day after Thankgiving- I saved a whole two bucks on the barbie my 5 year-old wants and will throw away in two months), and the media for setting up camara in the seediest places in the US in hopes of catching people who have waited in line 12 hours for the tickle-my-privates-while-saying-my-name-Elmo to pull weapons out and blow everyone away because the store only received three of them!! Silly Bastards...
Screw Thanksgiving, everyone grab your wigs and hurry up, we gots' to wait in line.. K-Marts opening early(wait a minute they're open 24 hours aren't they?) Shoot, they fooled us again this year!
Have fun everyone. I'm doing all my shopping on-line again this year. Happy Holidays!!

I hear a banjo playing!!

I think I found out how redneck Lafayette can be. I was at work extra late tonight, my admin was taking checkouts and got a phonecall from the police, her boyfriend had gotten a little intoxicated (Pabst Blue Ribbon) driven to her place and knocked on the door. He thought she was home and was ignoring him, so he broke down the freaking door to get to her. The police were called in and arrested him for breaking and entering. I think it's love, ( Oh! He's so sweet, he wanted to see me so badly that he busted down my door!!) OK she didn't really say that, but I've seen enough dummies claim they're through putting up with there boyfriends shit and then a week later, it's all (oh! He promised me he would change and he really hasn't done anything in awhile, besides the few times, no he really has been kinda good, Better??) It's not my problem!! I guess I shouldn't claim this is something that would only happen in Lafayette, I mean this could so happen down in Miami, except the boyfriend would break down the door for a different reason like ( Hey Man!! I could've sworn I heard her in there snortin' all my coke all by herself!!!) See, It could happen ANYWHERE!
Way to go man, there's a story to be proud of...

Gumbo?
I just asked my bud, (we're sharing a room right now) What the hell is gumbo? I'm sorry to all of you who thrive off of the stuff, but I'm a little ignorant to the ways of the Bayou!! OK so gumbo is anything soup with okra in it. Cool, I understand. So Someone I know spent all day on making a large pot of the stuff. It was delicious. I appreciate him working all day on some stew, that because it has okra in it, is called gumbo. It had all sorts of stuff in it, sausage, celery, chicken, and it had the best thing, bones! Yup bones! like a chicken leg here, a chicken wing, some rib bones. I began to ladle the gumbo(not stew) onto my rice and I looked and saw a chicken leg. Good stuff. Everyone then proceeded to brag about there Gumbo. Ok, I still say it's stew. "Oh no!, I lived right near the bayou, it's in my blood." Well, some Jim Beam is in my blood right now, doesn't mean I can make some great bourbon. Anyway, It's good to see some other cultures on these travels. Ever see the movie Waterboy, Yeah, it takes place in Louisiana! Funny!
Another Hotel
I'm sick of writing in Hotels, I've put over three thousand miles on my car in the three weeks that I've owned it.. I believe this is the last trip for awhile , I can only hope. I drove into Lafayette yesterday after being on the road for four and half hours and I'm told, I'm going to close. Then I look at my schedule, even though I'm not scheduled to close I'm OK with it because I'm only supposed close two nights, no problem! Then I look at the end of the night and my schedule shows me closing for the next four nights. Is this true, someone changed y schedule. Do I shout bullshit?? Or do I close the next four night, then leave and not worry about coming back? I haven't decided. Oh and then I walk into the hotel and I have to share the room with someone and he smokes. In the room. In the nonsmoking room!! It smells up everything. My eyes were burning in five minutes. This sucks!! Everyone keeps asking me If I'm going to stay longer because they feel the shifts are easier with me here. They have more fun. I think they're blowing smoke up my ass. I'm leaving as quickly as possible.... I Send a steak out thats supposed to be well done. It comes back, (It went out a medium- I rarely make a mistake) The poor slab of dried up meat came back with A1 poured all over it. I just don't understand, please over cook this high quality peice of meat until all moisture and flavor in it evaporates, then I'm going to pour half a bottle of some flavor back on to it. Here's a clue: toast some bread and pour the A1 on it. It would save you about 20 bucks!! I'll get more interesting

Mobilety
My wife and I have moved to Mobile... What a year, we've lived in three different homes this year (four if you count our car)... Once again I'm in a Hotel room this time in Lafeyette, LA. I've gotta go to tampa later this week for a round of meetings. FUN. I should probably tell you that I hope I can move to Mobile soon. My wife tells me its a great town. I cannot wait to see it and not hae to travel anymore. All I've done for months is travel. Does it sound like Im bitching, I kinda am. Tonight someone bitched that his salad sucked because there wasn't enough romaine in it. (It's practically all romaine.) Dumbass.

(originally posted on my other blog (ML) Well, I’m sitting in a Hotel Suite provide by my company. The reason… I’m a refugee from Hurricane Katrina. I lived with my wife in Long Beach, Mississippi; we lost our home and my car. The funny thing is we had just moved there so I could open and run a new restaurant. Long Beach is about 10 miles from Biloxi, known for gambling and 24 hours of drinking and sometimes driving. We had moved there in March, we loved our large home close to the Beach. We actually bragged about being across the street from the beach. (south of the railroad tracks.) They don’t talk much about Mississippi on the news anymore, the people there are handling the crisis much more efficiently than in New Orleans. They had power back up and running in only five days. They didn’t even do that for victims of Hurricane Andrew (I’m from Ft. Lauderdale.) In New Orleans they had massive flooding, On the Gulf coast of Mississippi, the entire gulf coast of Mississippi, there is complete loss of everything for two blocks north. A thirty ft wave struck and left nothing but foundation not even pipes are left sticking out of the ground. The media loves to focus on New Orleans, only because they can bring up a certain nasty word and blame everything on the president. Have you ever seen a president visit a disaster area as much as Bush has? Anyway I won’t get into politics. The point of this is to exclaim the sadness that no one has recognized or celebrated the recovery efforts made by Mississippi. I might have only lived there a short time, but I have shared an experience with the population and I feel a sense of pride from witnessing their resiliency.
