Gumbo?

I just asked my bud, (we're sharing a room right now) What the hell is gumbo? I'm sorry to all of you who thrive off of the stuff, but I'm a little ignorant to the ways of the Bayou!! OK so gumbo is anything soup with okra in it. Cool, I understand. So Someone I know spent all day on making a large pot of the stuff. It was delicious. I appreciate him working all day on some stew, that because it has okra in it, is called gumbo. It had all sorts of stuff in it, sausage, celery, chicken, and it had the best thing, bones! Yup bones! like a chicken leg here, a chicken wing, some rib bones. I began to ladle the gumbo(not stew) onto my rice and I looked and saw a chicken leg. Good stuff. Everyone then proceeded to brag about there Gumbo. Ok, I still say it's stew. "Oh no!, I lived right near the bayou, it's in my blood." Well, some Jim Beam is in my blood right now, doesn't mean I can make some great bourbon. Anyway, It's good to see some other cultures on these travels. Ever see the movie Waterboy, Yeah, it takes place in Louisiana! Funny!
